LitPick Review
When Junior Detective for his school, Madigan, gets assigned a new kid partner (Austin Phelps) by the Vice Principal to make sure he doesn’t get in trouble, he isn’t very happy. But, when new cases come up, he is more annoyed at him for getting less juicy cases than for being in the way. The first case is about a missing lucky pencil, which he agrees to do. But, then a second case comes that is a bit more serious and he doesn’t know if he wants to do it. It involves a girl that Madigan has some history with and he has to prove that she didn’t push the girl off the stage. But, when the case leads to him getting in trouble, his newfound friend betraying him for the all controlling PTA, and all the clues leading to the school bully- that likes to hurt him especially, can Harper Madigan solve the case and keep the girl from being expelled?
Opinion:
I think this book is very good for kids to read for many reasons. First of all, the story has so many twist and turns it will keep you guessing until the very end. Second, the plot flows so smoothly, but mysteriously it will seem like that is what was supposed to happen and that you should have seen it coming- but you won’t. Third, it is an exciting tale of adventures and past mistakes that come together to make the emotions real. And last but not least, the author describes it so clearly you can imagine it right in front of your eyes. It was one of the best books I have ever read.
