This short story is about the lesson of endurance, despite our imperfections. Written in a first person perspective, the author tells a little bit about himself, along with an experience in his life he hopes others will learn from. The lesson? We win some and we lose some, but we can’t let our failures define us. Those who fail will be led to success. For the author, Jimmy Carter played a role in helping him realize this himself.
Chick in a Basket takes place twelve days before Easter. The Easter Bunny assigns Agent Chicks to deliver a Magic Golden Egg to each child throughout the community. Each day, the children find the egg and perform a good deed. After twelve days of performing these helpful deeds, the children are rewarded with Easter gifts.
Don’t Call Me Chip is an upbeat story that's partially told from the perspective of a chipmunk. Surprisingly, contrary to the chipmunk stereotype, this chipmunk is witty and does not do cute. He also hates to be called "Chip." After escaping from his destroyed burrow under the deck of a house caught on fire, he searches for a new home among a neighborhood near the forest. After meeting his close ex-marine human companion, he is given a new home.
In The Hummingbird, Jacob Delvin brings the magical worlds from famous fairy tales and story books to life with this thrilling, funny, and inspiring story. Pietro, Zack, Wendy, and Hook take Hook’s ship, the H.M.S. Hummingbird, to Neverland hoping to recruit the lost boys and save Neverland from the Dark, which is corrupting the land. Meanwhile, Rosanna, Crescenzo, and the Order of the Bell prepare for a final stand against Queen Avora in the new world, the world we live in.
Avery Appreciates True Friendship is a heartwarming story about a friendship struggle in the midst of softball season. Avery is one of many players on the softball team called The Lady Tigers. She adores softball and equally loves being able to share this passion with her two best friends, Charlotte and Bianca.
The Unseen is book two in The Order of the Bell series. I advise that you read book one, The Carver, first (it’s on Litpick's website too!) because book two is a continuation of the adventure.
In The Unseen, Crescenzo, Rosana, and Zach are now in Wonderland looking for a way to stop the King of Hearts, who teamed up with the evil Queen Avora, who has trapped their parents. The main characters, Crescenzo, Rosana, and Zach, are the sons and daughter of Pinocchio, Alice in Wonderland, and Peter Pan, respectively.
