The Mystery of the Lost Map by Jim Rhoden is a cute story about the Randall family’s adventure of a lifetime looking for buried treasure. Brothers Cowboy Little and Cowboy Small live on the Circle R Ranch in the Wild West, so they get to spend their free time looking for old Indian arrowheads, exploring, fishing, and even camping overnight on their own sometimes. They love taking their horses Ned and Ted, dogs Red and Fred, fleas Itch and Scratch, and a couple of cattle named Brawny Bull and Helen Heifer when they go.
The Tale of Cloran Hastings was full of adventure with a little romance on the side. The famous and brave sea captain known as Cloran Hastings, along with his crew, have just gotten back from a long journey. The captain is happy to be home, especially since he is planning on settling down with his love.
If The Hobbit took his adventure in the realm of Star Wars, it would certainly describe Infinity: The Secret of the Diamonds by Tejas Mathai! He has created a protagonist that is easy to get behind and that you root for, while also giving significant detail to setting and intricacies of his world.
Flight of a Starling is about Rita and Lo, two teenage sisters born into a family of circus performers. The two of them perform as trapeze artists and love traveling from place to place. Then Lo meets a "flattie" named Dean, a college boy who has only lived in one place his whole life. The two form a strong connection and sneak off night after night to be together, despite her father's orders that she is to only associate with her own kind.
In this book, sixteen-year-old Carter Vanadian receives a package. It contains the bag of her best friend, Conrad. Inside the bag is a very outdated camera (from sometime in the 1900s), from which Carter gets photos that were taken by Conrad. A while after she receives the bag, she is put in charge of booking the flight to Magnus (a planet) for her Archeology of Outer Space college class’s apprenticeship. Instead, she ends up making the gut-wrenching decision to book it for Thror, (the planet that Conrad disappeared to) even though he had a serious lung condition.
Willa Snap and the Clockwerk Boy is a charming epic of how a normal girl is whisked into an adventure beyond her wildest dreams. Willa Snap's mother has created an invention that a person could put Washington D.C. inside of it, and once something is inside, everything within it is frozen in time.
