They get out and walk to the nearest exit sign, but instead of going back to the fair grounds, they are transported back in time to when Elias Howe and Isaac Newton were alive.
The Door to January is about sixteen-year-old Natalie Payson. She has been having nightmares ever since she moved away from her home town in Bernier, Maine. She feels a connection between her and her hometown; something deeper than the average dream.

Mikey takes and comforts Timothy as well as gives him his name. Timothy grows fond of his new home and roommates who are mice.
