Comets by Joseph Allen Costa is a collage about Roberto's life, who we meet as a teenager working in his father's cabinet shop. Roberto's life careens through the struggles of Italian, Cuban, and American cabinetmakers, especially the challenges of his father. The various characters have their own particular troubles, all of which deeply shape their characters and their interactions with Roberto. Through these struggles, Roberto learns and matures. His own mistakes are instructive. His father's weaknesses and strengths mold the son.

The Illustrated Boatman’s Daughter tells the tale of Salima, an intelligent and brave 16-year old girl, who dreams of seeing the world beyond her home. In an attempt to obtain some money to finally begin her adventure, she is recruited to assist in the construction of the Suez Canal. Her acceptance of the job comes with the sudden realization of what the canal truly means for Egypt and the world. She faces injustices, foreign conflicts, and perilous events with her trusty collie, Fadil, and her newfound friends.

He finds out that there is another realm with an abundance of energy. Seeing this, the alchemist has started to open portals to the realm to suck out its energy. The people of this realm are now worried that they might die.
