  My Own Lightning by Lauren Wolk is a story about a girl named Annabelle who lives in Western Pennsylvania in the year 1944. A man appeared at Annabelle’s schoolhouse looking for his dog named Zeus, which is a Bull Terrier breed. Annabelle's teacher sends her on her way to find Zeus. Annabelle is positive that she can find Zeus. On her way to find Zeus, an intense storm came.  On her way home, Annabelle unfortunately got struck by a lightning, but someone saved her life.

Salahudin and Noor are in their final year of high school in a rural California town. Noor survived an earthquake in Pakistan that decimated her entire village when she was 6 and has been living with the uncle who rescued her ever since. Cookie and Broccoli are the best of friends.  Despite being different, they get along very well, and this book is all about secrets in the life of Cookie and Broccoli! First, Broccoli has a very embarrassing nickname he doesn't want anyone to know. But when he tells the nickname to Cookie in their secret spot, the whole school ends up hearing! Luckily, everyone is kind to Broccoli and tells him that his nickname is awesome! Next, Broccoli is very bored one day and can't seem to find anything to get rid of his boredom.

Ellen is a brave 13-year-old girl living in Brooklyn, New York. As the date for her Bat Mitzvah gets closer, Ellen begins to worry about what kind of woman she wants to be. When everybody in school starts to change their looks and personality to fit in with the crowd, Ellen stays true to herself and her personality. One of her female role models is her mother. Ellen feels that her mother focuses more on others than her. In fact, Ellen’s parents begin having fights because her dad is angered by the fact that her mom is never home.

This is a story about a dog named Nici who is looking for a human to take care of him, and in return, Nici will treat this person with devotion. It all starts on Christmas Eve, where in the sheepfold, Nici along with his beloved puppies and other dogs were waiting for this fierce winter night to end. In search of protection, a little boy also joined their company. The boy is the son of Nici's owner, and for both of them, the dog is ready to give his life.

My Own Lightning is a youth and young adult novel written by Lauren Wolk, which is a sequel to her book Wolf Hollow.  This is the story of a girl by the name of Annabelle.  The story takes place in a small township in Western Pennsylvania in 1944.  One day in June when Annabelle and her teacher were cleaning the one room schoolhouse on a hot, sticky day, a stranger from a nearby town came looking for his dog.  Annabelle also noticed that a fellow student was lurking outside as well.  Annabelle and the teacher decided to call it a day when it looked like a storm was

Me and Sam-Sam Handle the Apocalypse alternates between two stories: one before and one after the tornado. Before the tornado, Jesse's dad is arrested for stealing the money in the library fund, which he did not do. Jesse, and her new friend, Springer, decide to investigate who really took it, while also standing up to bullies. They also try to train Sam-Sam to sniff out containers so he can learn to be a bomb-sniffing dog. After the tornado, Jesse runs back to her house in search of her beloved dog.

As we begin A Nest of Snakes by Deborah Levison, we meet Brendan Cortland, a very rich 47-year-old man, extremely disturbed and psychologically complicated.
