LitPick Review
Our little Promise tells about when Billy visits his friend Lilly. Lilly loves to joke and play pranks on Billy on April Fool's Day. Billy doesn't shun or get tired of the pranks, and at the end of the day, Billy narrates his experience to his mom. This book's emphasis is on friendships.
Opinion:
This book is very creative yet not overwhelming. The story is set at Lilly's house, and Lilly loves to play pranks. Billy and Lilly are very unique characters but complement each other very well. The pace of the book is just right. I personally love the illustrations as the colors and style bring out a warm feeling about childhood and friendship. It also shows the beautiful friendship regardless of ethnicity. Lilly's pranks are so funny, and Billy doesn't seem to get tired of them. This is a story that makes one wish to have a friend like Billy or Lilly. I know there are other books that talk about children's pranks, but this book has it's own uniqueness. I recommend this story for bedtime and storytime in school.
