Grow! How We Get Food From Our Garden features a young girl and her grandfather growing plants in a luscious garden. The book outlines the steps of their gardening process like tilling, planting, watering, and harvesting the produce. As the characters wait for the produce to ripen for harvest, the author includes some other parts of nature such as lively animals and their eating habits and other plants outside of the garden such as tall trees and colorful flowers.

Bullies and Peeps by J.D. Suhre is a book about a girl named Meg who is bullied at school.  Hannah, the bully, is a popular girl who gets enjoyment out of seeing others struggle.  Meg prefers nature to people and sees a nest of eggs with a goose perched on top while looking out of the classroom window.  She learns about geese, and when the eggs eventually hatch, a surprise is welcomed into the classroom.  Will the bullying stop, or will Meg join forces with nature?  Maybe both!

Twelve days of Christmas Murder and Mayhem takes place at Cheatham Castle. The story follows Miss Marble, an amatuer sleuth and one of the guests at the castle’s 500 year anniversary celebration. The opening chapter is about Mia Hamm, followed Abby Wambach, Michelle Akers, Kristine Lilly, and eight other U.S. soccer stars. One of the stories is about Hope Solo, who became the goalie for the U.S. national team. She grew up in Richland, Washington, where she played soccer in high school and was a forward, scoring 109 goals. She received a scholarship to University of Washington to play goalie.

We meet Cynthia Graham in a lawyer's office in England as she is sorting out a surprising inheritance from a grandmother she never met. She soon discovers a deeper mystery surrounding her grandmother and the Mt.

 When parents bring children into this world, it is assumed they will provide for them and love them unconditionally. With that, it is also assumed they will teach them responsibility and to work hard to achieve goals in life. As children transition into adulthood, it can be challenging to let them take on adult responsibility, and sometimes parents struggle with that transition. In this story, a mother experiences that struggle and goes too far in assisting her daughter with her college acceptance.

The Illustrated Boatman's Daughter is a historical fiction book telling the story of a 14 year-old Egyptian girl on her mission to save Egypt from devastation. She is accompanied by friends and allies against the schemings of the Europeans, who seek to dominate trade through the construction of the Suez Canal. Having grown up a boatsmen's daughter, she sails and adventures through the rivers of the Nile to save her country.
