After narrowly escaping him, she is found cold, sick, and hungry in the streets of Ennis, Ireland, by a young American couple who are convinced she is the answer to their prayers for children. She is swept away into a whole new world of petticoats, luxury, and love she never imagined possible. As Lara becomes used to her new life, things from her past come to call—things she only dreams of in her worst nightmares. Will Lara survive her encounter with the past, or will it bring her back to the dark corners of Ireland? Can her newfound life of belonging continue, or will she be drawn back with no hope of return?
