Deadly Delicious is about a girl, Josephine, who everybody thinks will not have powerful conjure (a trait girls have in her family's magic line) except for her grandma. Her grandma thinks she has a very powerful conjure. When Josephine thinks that Authelia is taking her best friend away she wants her to stop, because she feels as if Quentin is not paying attention to her. She sees her chance when Authelia sends Quentin a cake. So she looks in her grandma’s conjure cookbook (her grimoire...every witch has one) and finds a “Forget~Me~Not~Pie”. She cooks it and switches the pies at the last minute. She doesn’t know that it also changes her life. After this she starts seeing ghosts of her great-great-great-grandma. When she shows her great power, Papa Nom (Hunger) tries to take her soul because Hunger loves the taste of the strongest witches. Will she defeat Papa Nom or be eaten?
Opinion:
Deadly Delicious is a great book about how Josephine grows up in a world of magic and conjure. The plot is great, but the prologue is not very detailed so it is confusing until you get to the part in the book about it. Although Josephine is powerful not a lot of people appreciate her except for Quentin. In this way this book is awesome because it shows how she is growing up to be the person she is suppose to be. So this is a pretty good book.
