Jayna Locke has created a wide expanse of characters and plots in a collection of captivating tales. Each contemporary story has roots Somewhere in Minnesota and in some of life’s pivotal moments. Making choices amid uncertainty and loss, these are stories of love and hope.

Opinion:

Somewhere in Minnesota offers the reader tales as rich and vibrant as the blocks of a patchwork quilt. Each is unique in its own design, and together they are a memorable work of art. Locke demonstrates her versatility by using a voice and style that suits each character, plot, and setting. She introduces characters that charm the reader and delivers engaging plots. Her vivid descriptions place the reader in a variety of Minnesota landscapes. Many of the stories may feel unresolved because they breed familiarity and resonate long after the final sentence, leaving readers yearning to know more about the characters they have come to know. Book club discussion questions are thoughtfully included in the book’s backmatter. Recommended for fans of contemporary fiction and stimulating stories. Keep the author motivated. Do not miss out.
