LitPick Review
Mortimer is just a regular mole; he learns how to dig tunnels and eats worms. But he hears these noises that make him want to go above ground. He finally does, in secret from his family, and he makes a friend, Ralph the Rat.
Ralph tells him that he lives under a baseball field. Ralph helps him try new things like hotdogs and tells him that he is becoming a real baseball fan. Then Mortimer's family finds out about his excursions at night. Can he tell them that he wants to be a baseball fan? And if he does, will his family still look at him in the same way?
Opinion:
This is a good book. It teaches a lesson about accepting people even if they are different. Mortimer also encourages trying new things. It would be a great story to read to children at night before they go to bed. This is an excellent chapter book for young kids who have learned to read independently.
