LitPick Review
Edna In the Desert by Maddy Lederman is a riviting novel about a young girl and her summer banishment to her grandparent's house. In fact, their house just so happens to be in the desert, or as Edna likes to say, the middle of nowhere. When her parents abandon her with her grandparents who live just outside the small ghost town of Desert Palms, Edna makes a horrid mistake that will alter her entire summer. She decides to run off into the desert and die. Little does she know that dying in the desert isn't quite what they make it seem like in the movies. When a handsome young man comes to save her from her doom, she starts to experience feelings she always thought were foolish. But who is this mystery guy?
Will Edna find out who the guy is that saved her life? Will she keep her bad girl act and refuse to cooperate with her gradmother? Or will she realize that she hasn't been the best daughter and find out things about her grandparents that she never thought imaginable?
Opinion:
Personally, I did have a hard time finishing this book. Not that it's badly written or anything, but it just wasn't my cup of tea. It did have it's moments though when I didn't want to set it down!
