Lifeboat 12 is a beautiful window to the past. Nazis have begun bombing London, and Ken Sparks, along with 89 other children, aged five to fifteen have the chance to escape to Canada. Aboard the S.S. Benares, they receive nine-course meals and many more luxuries.

After only five days at sea, the ship reaches the "safe zone," but then they are torpedoed. The S.S. Benares is sinking fast. Ken is shoved onto lifeboat number 12 with five other boys. They must wait for a rescue boat or row their way to land. Will the passengers of Lifeboat 12 survive, or will the harshness of the ocean send them to their deaths? Will they be torpedoed again? Find out in this thrilling novel in verse.

Opinion:

Lifeboat 12 is one of the most amazing books I have ever read. The form of a novel in verse helps demonstrate the feelings and circumstances the characters are experiencing. I would definitely recommend this book to any friend.

This book also takes an interesting perspective of one of the passengers on S.S. Benares. After finishing the story, I wanted to read it again because of the courage and strength of character that the people in the story radiated.
