LitPick Review
Growing Backyard Vegetables is a perfect book for gardening beginners. It starts by introducing the pros of gardening, then by giving readers a step-by-step tutorial on how to plan, prepare, make, and maintain the garden. Afterwards, there is a section on how to harvest the crops that you have grown, and there is a reflection section at the end where the reader reflects on their gardening experience and how that has affected their everyday life.
Opinion:
I am personally not the biggest fan of informational pamphlets, but I do enjoy gardening, so it was interesting to see how my gardening skills differed from the book. Learning about the mental effects of gardening was enjoyable because even though I help plants grow and thrive each day, I never realized that gardening has helped me grow and thrive. I liked how the book gave a step-by-step guide to how to create a garden after stating the pros of gardening. It was possibly the most direct book I have read, with no twists and turns, just the reader and the garden. It seemed very engaging and persuasive, and if I did not already have a garden, I would start one now. I never knew about how airflow could affect my plants until I read this book, so its helpful tips for effective gardening are aiding even experienced gardeners like me. Every page in the book is filled with tricks and guidance, so a beginner could start a garden immediately after reading the book. 5/5 stars for all the information that is packed in the book, and I highly recommend it to people who have the free time to start up a garden!
