The Fog of Forgetting is a book about three brothers and their unexpected journey.  Brothers Chase, 13,  Knox, 11,  and Teddy, 6, are going on their annual family summer trip to their cottage up at Summerledge.  The first day there, they meet a pair of sisters named Frankie, 9, and Evelyn, 13.  One day, the boys’ dad gets a call from work saying he needs to come back.  So their mom drives him back to the airport, leaving strict instructions for the boys to stay at Mrs. Dellemere’s house until she gets back.  (Mrs. Dellemere is their babysitter for the time being.) The one other rule she lays out for them is to not go out on their boat without her.  So what is it that they and the girls do?  They go out on the boat, stay out for a while, and finally start heading home.  But after a little while, they get engulfed by fog and everyone falls asleep.  When they wake up, they find themselves near land.  They have no idea where they are.  At that moment, their boat starts cruising by itself to the island.  When they run aground, they get out of their boat.  The girls want to explore,  while the boys decide to stay and wait for help.  Eventually, a confusing, mysterious man finds the boys on the beach.  When they ask where they are, he explains to them that they are on the island of Ayda and that they are trapped there.  The man asks them if they are going to come with him to his cabin.  When they say yes, the boys watch in disbelief as the man strips their boat of anything useful and proceeds to his cabin.  Join the adventures of Chase, Teddy, Knox, Evelyn, and Frankie in their quest to get back home!
