Deep in the Woods, King Deer has a feeling that something special is about to happen. Suddenly, there is a bright glow from off in the distance! "Great News!" calls the tree frog. A firefly has been born! Could it be true? A firefly born for the first time in the woods? This would mean that winter is officially over and summer can start!

Opinion:

This is one of my favorite picture books I've ever read! First off, the way the author described the Woods and the animals that live in the Woods was great, and I could really imagine the setting especially with the illustrations. I also liked how the author built up suspense even with such a short story. It started with the King Deer feeling as if something special was going to happen and built up with all the other animals chipping in. Another part of the story I liked was all the creatures mentioned in the story because this added so much to the story and left me with a feeling of closeness and warmth. Last, but not least, I really liked how the author used the firefly to signify light and summer and also included facts about fireflies at the end of the book! Overall, I definitely recommend this book to all ages.
