During her more than twenty years of elementary education experience, Vikki Lynn Smith uses her passion for storytelling to develop tales to help children retain lessons about science and nature. The In the Woods Series is home to Summer the Firefly and A Stranger in the Clearing, both unique stories addressing social moral issues of diversity and friendship. 
As the child of an Air Force family and spouse of a career Coast Guard officer, Vikki is an avid traveler with a passion for sharing her knowledge and experiences with others. When she is not writing, Vikki spends her time with her husband, her two grown children, and her two loving golden retrievers along the shores of the Chesapeake Bay. To Smith, there is no adventure too big or too small that can’t inspire the mind to write.
