No longer masquerading as Everly March, Maia flees the Island and joins up with the Fienan Rebels. Unfortunately, nothing is as she expected. The boy she loved no longer remembers her, the people she fought so hard to save don’t trust her, and her brother is a total stranger. On top of that, Maia has less than a week to stop the rebels from making a terrible mistake that will cost them all their lives. While she battles to save the people she loves, whether they appreciate it or not, Maia makes surprising allies and comes face to face with hard truths about people she thought she had figured out.

Opinion:

Shadow Rise is a wonderful book. Grey introduces wonderful new characters while continuing to develop those from the first book. I liked that she didn’t let the romance from the first book fall flat. Instead, she added a twist to keep readers interested. Like the first book in the series, Shadow Fall, Shadow Rise had several surprising reveals that kept me on the edge of my seat. Additionally, I liked that Maia continued to grow as a person, finally recognizing her own flaws and those of the people around her. I would recommend this series to anyone looking for a dystopian action-packed adventure. Maia and company is sure to keep you on your toes.

I can’t wait for the third installment in the series.
