Stefanie Countryman, a scientist from NASA, is looking for a jumping spider for NASA's newest experiment. They want to test if jumping spiders can adapt to space's microgravity environment. Stepfanie receives a package with a sac of jumping spider eggs and fruitflies and is disappointed to see that only four of them have survived. Of the four, Stefanie chooses the biggest female spider, who she names Nefertiti. She then prepares Nefertiti for her 100-day journey to space by putting her through various tests such as surviving with no light. Nefertiti passes all the tests and is deemed a good fit for the experiment. She is then sent into space, and at first, appears to not be adapting to the microgravity. However, as time goes on, things start to change.  Will Nefertiti be able to survive in space after all?

Opinion:

I really enjoyed reading this nonfiction book. I think the author did a great job of balancing including information in the story while also making it entertaining. I was also very impressed with how the author was able to make the book suspenseful, which helped me stay interested in the book. Another thing liked was the illustrations.  I think they were very realistic and showed me what was happening in the story. Additionally, the pictures told me additional information about Nefertiti such as her size. Overall, I highly recommend this book to readers of all ages as I think anyone can learn from and enjoy this amazing book!
