Ethan has had a tough few years since his dad passed away, but he feels closest to him when working at the old movie theater in town. His dad was a film professor, whose films were often shown at this old cinema. Due to a crumbling and unsound building, the theater is en route to be closed down and demolished. It's up to the employees including Ethan, Sweet Lou, Anjo, Griffin, and Lucas (aka the Lost Boys) to save the place they love and call a sanctuary. When Ethan's oldest friend, Raina, comes back to town after going off to become a B-List actress, the place may actually have a chance to survive and Ethan may have found his soulmate.
Opinion:
I thought this was such a fun read and one that kept me hooked and loving the characters. I love the idea of a small group of characters who have fun together and have great dialogue throughout the story. I think that 'quirky' is the best way to describe all of these characters. I'd recommend this book to any young adult readers as it's definitely a work of realistic or contemporary fiction. There is a slight love story involved with Ethan and Raina but not enough to classify this as a romance novel. There are lots of references to older movies made throughout the book which could throw younger teen readers a bit. However, for those who are movie fanatics, this is the perfect read for you. I think I just wanted the best for Ethan throughout the book because he's such a lovable character. It's a great read about understanding that the people who are around you are the ones who help to define who you are, not just those material things that one may really want.
