Patience was a little girl who never took it easy. At the beginning of this children’s book, she had a leg cast due to a bicycle accident. Before her ninth birthday, she was impatient, wanting to see what her mother was planning for her special day. Her mother told Patience to “Take it slow.  Just play and enjoy yourself." Many wonderful surprises awaited her on her birthday celebration, but the best gift was the one she received from her dad, who couldn't attend.

Opinion:

The most important lesson in this book is the message that patience is truly a virtue to be learned. This book shows a positive environment with a gentle tone and is such a great way to help children identify a vital quality that is patience and that having patience may not always be very exciting, but it can be very beneficial and help to keep you safe! This is a lesson all children should learn! It’s so funny how the character’s name is Patience, but she doesn’t seem to have any! I also like how the author uses colorful and descriptive illustrations to tell the story of this impatient child. Overall, Birthday? Birthday!! Birthday!!! Impatient Patience’s Special Day by Michael A. Brown is a great picture book to read at night for important values like patience.
