Art Imitating Life is a story about a girl named Paige who has guarded her heart and rarely lets her guard down when it comes to trusting people. Shortly after a breakup with her boyfriend, Sam, and the news going viral, she soon found herself in a place where her wildest imaginations couldn't take her. Finding herself and her best friend, Liam, and Liam's friend, Nathaniel, in a parallel world, each of them had to accept reality and work together to achieve a common goal. This wasn't that easy considering how things were in South coast as Nathaniel and Paige were less of friends and more of enemies due to a childhood grudge between them. In this new world, also known as Avellithia, Paige had to take up the role of Sage, a brave leader. She, Liam, and Nathaniel had to find a way of restoring what belonged to the Avellithians, which the power-seeking Prince Elliot had taken from them. They also had to find a way back home as Avellithia isn't their world. Hence, Paige had to learn to let people in and ask for help, when in need, to achieve this aim.

Opinion:

The book was well-written and detailed in such a way that Avellithia could be pictured as the author described the features of Avellithia: there's the iconic bridge, the Sorceress' emerald cave, and other features which depict Avellithia as a beautiful place. The characters were well-developed. Liam is a friend both to Paige and Nathaniel. I loved that he was able to maintain the relationship he had with each of them despite both friends, Paige and Nathaniel, not getting along with each other. The book was filled with suspense and was indeed a page-turner. More of fantasy than adventure, this had me thinking of why and how Paige and her company found themselves in another world in the first place. Due to these debating questions that cropped up while reading the book, I was a bit confused about the storyline. This was the only thing I disliked about the book. Nevertheless, I rate this book a 4 out of 5 stars as it is a fascinating one. I recommend this book to people who like fantasy, adventure, and a touch of romance, as well as those who won't be bothered by few swear words and violent scenes.
