LitPick Review
The novel, Knee Deep, portrays a high school teenage girl named Ronnie, who has to face the demons of her current boyfriend Shawn. She finds herself in this problem when she notices that he seems distant, but he won’t say anything. The problem only worsens when she tries out for the school play, Romeo and Juliet, when she gets the part as Juliet’s understudy. As the play starts, Ronnie and her best guy friend Luke begin getting real cozy with each other, and she begins to start having feelings for him. Now she has to decide if she wants to stay with the problematic boyfriend, Shawn, who only causes more problems, or Luke, the best friend, who fell for her a long time ago and only wants to protect and love her. Is it too late for Ronnie?
Opinion:
I loved the book. The way Knee Deep was written made everything so real. I felt like I knew Ronnie and how bad her situation was made me feel bad. Everything that happened made it seem so real, like I was actually living inside the story. Every twist and turn kept me on the edge of my seat and wanting more. The story made this bad situation real; it felt like I was living Ronnie's life.
