WATCH THE LITPICK BOOK BRIEF VIDEO!
When aliens drop giant crystals onto Earth in an attempt to save the world, 9-year-old Kelly Donovan and about 2% of the population receive powers. Kelly, an avid comic reader, is thrilled! Finally, she can become like all her heroes! She comes up with a superhero name, Ubergirl. Kelly is on her way to becoming a superhero! The same alien rock that gave her powers has also given her dad powers. Awesome, right? Yes, except when your dad is a mad scientist. Which is stronger - Kelly’s superhero tendencies or her loyalty to her father?
Opinion:
My Dad is a Mad Scientist is a thrilling book. Readers won’t be able to put down this book! It features a perfect blend of reality and imagination, which leaves readers wanting more. Matthew S. Cox captures a child’s thoughts extremely well. Some intense scenes and a few bad words leave the book best for ages 12+. Kelly is the perfect example of the proverb, “Big things come in small packages.” I hope to see more in this series.
