Dawn has a secret. If only she could remember what her secret is. Instead, her mind goes dark and she wakes up, bruised and bloody in strange places, barely able to speak. The doctors call them fugues. Her dad calls them dangerous. Her mom and stepdad call them problematic. All Dawn knows is that she is feeling less and less comfortable in her skin.

In this book, a boy named Jorge gets kicked out of his old school in Los Angeles, so he has to go live with his grandparents. Jorge is laying on the roof looking at the stars when he hears a strange sound. He goes towards it and meets a chupacabra named Carter, and they become best friends over time. One night Jorge's principal, a hunter, finds out about Carter and starts hunting him. Then dozens of hunters come and terrible attacks start happening. Read on to find out what happens next!

Despite being a ghost, she is able to be seen by Nate, who is persuaded when Maddie keeps ripping her own skin off to scare him. Once she gets Nate on her side, she knows they will find her body soon. With some help along the way, all while avoiding Mattie's axe-wielding ghost Pa, Nate and Mattie race against the clock to get her the peace that she is searching for.
