It's 1985, and Freya Kallas has just moved back to Canada after her diplomat father was killed in an accident. Even though she's back in her native country, she can't shake the feeling that something isn't right. Freya has been having vivid dreams about another life, and her memories don't feel real. When she sees a boy on the street, Freya is positive that she knows him - even though they have never met. Freya will do anything to uncover the truth, but there are people out there who don't want her to know, and are intent on stopping her.

Opinion:

I love dystopian novels, and I'm happy to say that I really enjoyed Yesterday! I have enjoyed this author's work in the past, and I think she did a great job transitioning from contemporary to science fiction. The beginning of Yesterday is a little confusing (there is a prologue that takes place in the future), but once you start reading the actual story, things begin to make sense. Along with Freya, the reader is able to see that something about her memories isn't right, and I was very curious to see what had happened. In the middle of the novel, there is a long explanation about Freya's condition. Normally I would find that boring, but I think it was needed to explain everything. Once that occurs, the plot thickens and becomes more exciting. Overall, I think Yesterday was very interesting, and it's an enjoyable read!
