Sethie struggles to maintain her own self-goals that effects her appearance.

Opinion:

I thought this book lacked an interesting conflict, and character development. The book was written in 3rd person, but there are a lot of characters; because this story is mainly about one central  character, this book would have greatly benefited from the use of 1st person, instead. The writing was poor for this reason, among others. Being in 3rd person, the writing had to name each character repeatedly, so as not to confuse the reader. However, the names of the characters were overused making the text hard to follow and extremely confusing. The plot was very slow moving and lacked much development to the story.
