Jillian Cassidy dreads going to school because she is badly bullied, so when she finds out she's been enrolled in a semester at her mom's old boarding school, she couldn't be happier. Jillian and her new friends Meghan, Samantha, and Sadie go on plenty of adventures, but the fun doesn't end there. When Jillian accidentally sends the three of them back in time 50 years to when her mom was at the school, you can't blame them for panicking quite a bit especially because during this time a war has started. Jillian is excited to meet a young version of her mom and hopes they can be friends. But the biggest reason she wants to stay is to warn her grandfather. Before Jillian was born, her grandfather was captured by communists and was never heard from again. She needs to warn her grandfather before it happens so she can know him in the future. Can Jillian warn him before it's too late? Will she and her friends be able to get home?

Opinion:

I really liked the way Jillian and her friends went back in time to spend three months at school in her mom's time and thought Jillian's mother Beth was a really great character because she was kind and seemed like a really great friend to have. I liked the suspenseful parts, and my eyes were wide the whole time I read them. Another part I liked was that Jillian and her grandfather were the only people that knew their little secret (you have to read the book to find out what it is.) I also liked Sam's personality because she seemed a lot more daring than Meg and Sadie, though I felt like it changed halfway through the book because she was a lot more cautious and frightened torward the end. I wish that I knew a little more about Meg being a sailor because those parts were really interesting. I also felt the ending was way too abrupt. The last adventure I felt could have been a little more exciting instead of Jillian and her friends just being lead to the solution without them doing anything. However, in conclusion, though some parts were a little disappointing, the good parts overruled the bad parts in this book and I'm glad I could read it.
