Orbit is extremely excited about traveling on his newest adventure, visiting a sleepover camp for children. When he arrives, they all settle in together under a beautiful oak tree, and Orbit begins telling the children he wants to have a fun discussion with them on the topic of gratitude.
Different children explain what gratitude means to them. One mentions being thankful for the people and things in her life. Another child asks should you still find gratitude when something sad happens? Orbit takes the time to explain that even though things don’t always go as you planned, it is during these times that you should look harder for the things that you are grateful for even when you are sad.
Opinion:
This was a very endearing lesson for children to learn about gratitude. I strongly feel that teaching a child about the important topic of gratitude at a young age helps them learn to have gratitude about different things, good or bad, throughout their entire life.
One thing that really stood out to me was when Orbit explained that gratitude could be found in everything around us, and we should treat it like a treasure hunt to find the wonderful things we are grateful for that surround us daily. He went through each letter of the alphabet and helped the children see just how much surrounded them that each one of them could be grateful for. This is an ingenious idea for parents, guardians, and teachers to do with the children in their lives. It’s a fun game teaching children that there’s plenty of things they should be grateful for.
The illustrations provided by Pardeep Mehra, the founder of Pencil Master Digital Studio, were a pure delight to look at. There were vibrantly colored, full-paged illustrations found on every page for readers of all ages to enjoy. Each picture told the story in colorful detail and was the perfect complement to the written words. Readers will pause to enjoy each illustration because each one was a wonderful addition to complete the story as a whole.
Ruth Maille, a pre-school teacher, understands that teaching children the topic of gratitude is a very important lesson they should learn starting at a young age. This book is part of her ongoing series “The Power of” in which each book teaches an important lesson to young children.
The Power of Gratitude: Unlocking Hidden Treasures is a children’s story that has fun characters you get to know, a wonderful lesson for readers to take away with them, and gorgeous illustrations to enjoy as you turn the pages. This story comes highly recommended!
