Lobo Coronado and the Legacy of the Wolf is a book about thirteen-year-old Lobo, the story's hero. His real name is Jeremiah Coronado, but he prefers everyone call him Lobo. His parents died in a fire when he was five years old, and he has been living at an academy ever since. Everything changes, though, when he returns to the academy after sneaking out one day and is followed back by a black cloud that calls his name. He makes it back inside through a window and thinks he is safe, but he soon finds himself being carried away by the same cloud he just outran.

The cloud brings him to a dark room where he meets his grandfather. He didn't even know about him, so it comes as a surprise. The bigger surprise, though, comes when he listens to his grandfather's story, telling him of a catastrophic event that is sure to occur unless Lobo helps to stop it. Reluctantly, he accepts his task and is joined by two unique beings. Along the way, Lobo becomes friends with the two others, and they work to stop the catastrophe. Will Lobo and his new friends be able to figure out how to stop this threat? Or will they be swallowed up in its wake?

Opinion:

I loved Lobo Coronado and the Legacy of the Wolf. It had all the elements that I enjoy in a book: mystery, magic, and of course, lots and lots of action. Also, I loved all the characters; I was really able to connect with them. My favorite character was Lobo because he did everything in his power to protect his friends, plus he had some obvious flaws, which just served to make him feel more human.

This book's main theme was mostly one of friendship. Lobo's new friends stood by him even when their journey got really tough.

I would recommend this book to ages 11 and up because death occurs. I can't wait to read the next book in the series to find out what happens next in the hero's story.
