Master Diplexito and Mr. Scant: Lessons from Underground by Bryan Methods is set both in Cape Town, South Africa and on the Titanic. The evil criminal, Aurelian Binns, stole a priceless diamond from the king, and Master Diplexito and Mr. Scant can’t get it back because Aurelian is too sneaky. Diplexito and Scant chase Aurelian and wind up on the Titanic. Fortunately, they disembark before the Titanic sinks. Luckily their friend Mr. Beards and his friend, Miss Quimby, assist Diplexito and Scant in getting to Cape Town...but will they make it in time to stop Aurelian’s plot to sell the priceless diamond?
Opinion:
I would recommend this book to readers who like adventure and mystery. I enjoyed reading the detailed, exciting descriptions of battle scenes and how the author created characters (especially Hunter) who changed during the story. The author kept the reader going by leaving some chapters as cliffhangers and writing an unexpected ending. This book was a real page-turner, and I would recommend it for ages 7-12.
