Essence of Amethyst follows the life of Essence and Kieran as they navigate the aftermath of the Glimmer lockdown in the Kingdom of Moonstone. This event  is marked by the escape of an evil being, Malachite, the capture of the King and Queen of Moonstone, and the activation of a protective charm which led to memory loss in Essence, Kieran, and their friends. ‎As her memories are gradually regained, Essence begins to understand who she is, the magnitude of the incident, and what needs to be done to rescue the King and Queen. ‎Essence, Kieran, and their friends embark on a series of adventures across different kingdoms in search for the truth and to rescue the Essence's parents. This quest involves the search of Merlin, a powerful enchanter who is believed to have all the answers they're seeking. ‎Will they navigate through the obstacles and succeed in their mission? ‎

Opinion:

‎The author, T. L. Garrett, did a commendable job creating this compelling storyline.  ‎The profound attention to detail, evidenced in the use of vivid descriptions of places, people, and events is noteworthy. For instance, the vivid description of the palace grounds portrayed a beautiful and magical picture. This fuels imagination and aids readers' understanding of the storyline. The transition from recollection of memories to the real-time events was flawless.  ‎

The characters were well-developed. ‎Essence, Princess of Moonstone, is smart, daring, and vigilant. Her amnesia and her quest for knowledge drove her to try to find out who she is and what had happened. She is a strong and determined character. ‎Kieran, Prince of Virgo Kingdom, is patient, kind, and caring. He steps up to responsibilities, taking actions at crucial moments. This is admirable. ‎

The book is fast-paced with several twists and turns, which kept me curious, maintaining suspense and anticipation. ‎ I'd rate Essence of Amethyst it a 4 out of 5.  It has a few typos which weren't enough to disrupt the story's flow. For instance, there's a particular paragraph which had its edited version written after it, more like a not-exactly duplicated paragraph. Yet, the flow of the storyline wasn't affected. ‎

‎I'd recommend this book to fans of fantasy, romance, and adventure novels. ‎The ending reveals the fact that the story continues in the next installment, that is, book three of the series. It’s a captivating read. ‎
