Opinion:
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. This book is the 3rd in a series, and despite not having read the first two books in the series, I was able to understand the plot and characters within the first few pages. There were a few minor details that I felt confused about at the beginning due to this, but the main plot of the book can be understood without having read the earlier books in the series. The author did a great job of leaning into the fantasy element of the story and used very specific descriptive language when describing the nonhuman characters and new landscapes. The author painted a picture of the different non-human characters by describing their color, skin, and what they looked like. This helped me visualize what Zenith was going through and made the story seem more adventurous. I also really liked how the book was very fast-paced, and there were no parts of the story that felt boring or slow. The character of Zenith was also very relatable. Just like most children, he was nervous to go back into a scary world, but was willing to do it for the people he loved. He was brave and witty, but also had things he was unsure about, and felt like a regular human and not a superhero. Overall, I think this book is great for readers who like fantasy and adventure.
