Beware that Girl is a story that follows the lives of two girls: Kate and Olivia. Both have dark pasts and secrets that may be better left untold. Yet, they come from two completely different life styles. In this book, it is plain to see that the saying “opposites attract” definitely has some truth, even if the attraction is a little manipulated. Life is going okay for the girls when Olivia returns to the Waverly School. That is, until a mysterious Mark Redkin shows up. He’s what every girl wants in a man, but like all the students at Waverly, he has his own hidden secrets. Redkin’s appearance starts a spiral of events that seem to lead to disaster. How long will Kate and Olivia resist his charm?

Opinion:

This book held my attention extremely well. I never really wanted to put it down. I loved the depth of the characters and the descriptiveness of the setting. The only problem I have with the book is the ending and throughout the entire book, I was a little confused as to what the point or purpose of it may have been. To me, the ending seemed a little abrupt and left me hanging. As for point or purpose, the story always seemed to ghost over one, but I could never grasp it. Other than those two drawbacks, the story was amazing and well written. Both points of view kept the plot interesting as well, and added to the flow and knowledge of the story.

Explain your content rating:

There are some hinted sexual happenings, and drugs taken to help with mental illness. It might be good to explain or talk to students a little bit before having them read it. There is also a little bit of violence associated with the sociopathic behavior.
