LitPick Review
Extracted is a book about two fictional groups who can time travel. One is the Tesla Institute, and the other is the "Hollows". The Hollows fight to disrupt time and the Tesla Institute protects it. There are two main characters, one with the Tesla Institute (Ember) and one with the Hollows (Lex). On one of Lex's missions, he and his girlfriend are sent to retrieve an artifact from the Amber Room. But on that mission, they run into a problem and his girlfriend dies. Lex wants to go back to that time and save her, but if you go to a time where you already exist it creates a paradox in the time stream. So, when Lex finds out there is something that can patch a paradox he tries to steal it. Will he steal it and save his girlfriend? Find out in this exciting adventure!
Opinion:
I really liked Extracted. It was very interesting and exciting. One thing I liked is how well the author developed the characters. One thing I didn’t like about it, though, was that every chapter swapped from Lex to Ember and Ember to Lex, which made it very confusing for me. This book was sometimes predictable, but most times I couldn’t guess what would happen next. Good descriptions were used. I feel there were some editing problems on the editor’s part because some of the words that weren’t in quotations looked like they should have been. I would recommend this book for ages 12 and up, because the content was a little on the mature side.
