LitPick Review
Sing Da Navelli lives and breathes music. Her parents were famous musicians, and now she aspires to be a singer. Finally, after years of hard work, Sing is accepted into Dunhammond Conservatory, a prestigious high school for growing musicians and singers. Upon her arrival, it is announced that the school will be putting on Angelique, an opera written at Dunhammond and the very opera that Sing's mother died playing the lead in. Sing is very excited until she is cast as the understudy to the lead. On top of all that, her vocal coach, Apprentice Daysmoor, seemingly hates Sing. She starts to find solitude in the forest, make friends with legendary creatures, and finds allies and even love in people formerly thought to be her enemies. Strange Sweet Song is a perfect book for anyone who loves mystery and music.
Opinion:
I absolutely loved this book. Strange Sweet Song is unlike any other book that I've ever read, and the characters have great depth. While reading this book, I was so entranced by the characters and their experiences I felt myslef getting emotional. I had trouble putting this book down. Adi Rule has written an intruiging book that drew a vivid picture in my mind. I could really relate to the main character, Sing, and felt pity for her when she was upset or scared. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.
