When the World Ends... by J.J. Marshall is an action-packed thriller of a book. The main character is Alec Corbett, the son of a hated official named Landon Corbett. The Corbetts live upon a space station called the ISS halfway between Earth and the moon. On the ISS, people are judged by where they live. On Level 1, people are thought to be dirty and plebian. On Level 3, the people are thought to be dignified. Alec lives on Level 3, but has a friend on Level 1 that his dad will not let him talk to. Landon is evil, and he doesn't like the people on Level 1. He plans to get rid of them, but through Alec's persistence, he is able to stop his father. Landon and Alec are sent to their home on Earth in London, where Landon is to work. Landon finds out about his son's rebellion, and after many sequences of action, Landon gets away and hopefully will be caught in the sequel or sequels.

Opinion:

This book was very excellent and exciting. It was long, but packed with action. The Level 1 characters are very likeable and their situation makes you feel bad for them. The Board of Officials that Landon works with are hated by everyone and usually by the reader.
