Halito, Gianna is a tale about a young girl’s quest to find out more about her father. Gianna embarks on a journey to discover her father’s identity, a journey that uncovers the truth about her family’s history. Her determination to know more about her father leads her to an after-school genealogy club, where she decided to find hints to her father’s identity with the help of her teacher, Mr Williams. How far will she go to uncover her father’s identity? Will she find the answers to her questions?

Opinion:

Halito, Gianna is an educational book for everyone. I learnt about the promise zone in the story. I got to know that the zone includes San Antonia, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, parts of the Kentucky, and the Choctaw nation in Oklahoma.  The history of the United States was emotional. The Choctaw were forced to leave their homes and walk five hundred miles. Many even died on the way. Before now, I didn’t know about this history of the United States. Halito, Gianna is a touching story that talked about identity, family, and forgiveness. The story offers knowledge about the importance of family history. Mr Williams' role in helping Gianna find her father is an example of how a mentor can play an important part in a person’s life. I enjoyed the book and would recommend it to anyone.
