LitPick Review
Gabby is a preschooler who is just starting to dress herself. She doesn't like wearing certain types of clothing such as her "lumpy socks" for winter. Her mom teaches her when certain socks or shoes, such as sandals, are appropriate in the weather of the changing seasons, and this really helps Gabby to understand why she can't just wear her sandals in the snow, etc. Soon it is summer, and Gabby's mom tells Gabby she can finally wear her sandals and not her lumpy socks. Gabby is thrilled!
Opinion:
This adorable picture book, with vibrantly illustrated pictures of Gabby wearing different socks or shoes for different seasons, is a wonderful way to help children to understand that wearing weather appropriate clothing is important and that seasons come and go. Gabby is just like many preschoolers who are only just starting to notice differences in their environments such as weather changes and seasons. This book also is a fun way to help children, who may feel some stress about changing their clothing each season, to understand in a simple and beautifully illustrated way why it is important to wear certain clothing, such as different socks.
