All is Assuredly Well by Professor Gore and Maestro Wilson and illustrated by Angela F.M. Trotter is a fairy tale for 2018. The story is told through the point of view of King Phillip who, with his husband, wishes for a baby girl to raise as their own. King Phillip must struggle through longing, unrecognized wishes, and multiple struggles to finally complete their little family and call a baby princess his own. The message behind the story and the beautiful illustrations really bring this story to life within the pages.
Opinion:
I like how this is a fairy tale at its surface, yet it carries a much deeper meaning within. The hardships of adoption along with being a homosexual couple is a fairy tale needed for today's generations. The story flows beautifully along the traditional hero cycle of a fairy tale, and the illustrations bring to life a heart-warming tale.
