In Kyle J. Steenbliks’ The Tales of Weirderland, two royal siblings named Prince Cael and Princess Iris embark on adventures to find a magical flying horse, the ruby of Poseidon, and save the forest of the fairies. In their first quest, they are given a magic sword and clock to protect them. Along the way, they befriend a miniature dragon named River, who helps them out on the way to find Ruben the Pegasus. While at the beach, Cael and Iris start their second quest unexpectedly (but willingly) to recover the ruby of Poseidon that was stolen by the evil sea wizard, Willard. Yet another unexpected character crosses their path while on this quest. Will they be able to achieve all they set out to do? And when will they finally arrive back home? Join Cael and Iris Wildling on their adventures in The Tales of Weiderland.

Opinion:

The Tales of Weirderland is a short, quick read. It is a good book for kids just beginning to enjoy reading longer books. It is a lot like the Magic Tree House series in that there is teamwork, creativity, and magic. There is a twist in the end of the book that adds humor to the story, along with lots of details that help the reader imagine the scenes on the page. However, there were some writing errors that interfered with the comprehension of the story. Overall, The Tales of Weiderland was a fun book recommended for younger readers.
