Oliver Griffon and the Witch's Curse is a book about Oliver, his friends, and his risky venture into the magical world. Oliver is just an average kid with a heart for adventure and a knack for getting into trouble.

When a mansion suddenly appears out of nowhere, Oliver must investigate. When it's time to investigate, Oliver brings along his best friend, Franklin. Inside, they nearly die, and they see a girl in the mansion. The girl's name is Samantha, and she's investigating as well. They decide to investigate together because Samantha broke her flashlight.

After some more investigating, they find a witch! The witch casts a deadly curse over the kids, but it can only be fully activated on All Hallows' Eve (Halloween). The witch also casts a memory spell over the kids, but Oliver isn't fully affected, so he can remember what happened in that mansion.

How can Oliver convince Samantha and Franklin that they're soon to die when they think that he imagined everything? How can the trio stop the curse in time? Find out in this thriller!

Opinion:

Stephen Huggins wrote a satisfying book filled with imagination and fantasy. To be honest, I didn't like this book at first. It began slowly and I was getting bored. About one-third of the way through the book, though, the magic came out, and I started to enjoy it. When the magic was fully introduced, I couldn't stop reading.

I liked the fact that almost all of the characters were down-to-earth and well-described.

Adventure, action, and magic collide! If you are a fan of The Candy Shop War by Brandon Mull, then you might enjoy this book as well. I would recommend this book for ages 10 and up because there were some larger words.
