Star-crossed Love, martial arts, and supernatural evil meet at the abandoned tracks in the deceptively quaint town of Middleburg...When Ignacio Torrez moved from the rough streets of Los Angeles to a small town dead smack in the middle of nowhere, he never expected to find himself in the midst of a gang war. But, he soon learns, these are no ordinary gangs. The wealthy, preppie Toppers on one side of the tracks and the working-class Flatliners on the other adhere to a strict code of honor and use their deadly martial arts skills, taught to them by the wise Master Chin, to battle one another for pride, territory, and survival. When Raphael, leader of the Flatliners, falls for Aimee, a Topper girl, the rival gangs prepare for a bloody, all-out war. The only hope for peace between them lies within the dark territory of the abandoned train tunnels where the tracks cross. Captivating! The Magic of Finkleton is a captivating novel. K.C. Hilton brings a powerful punch of magic into a fast-paced older children's book that does not disappoint. I found it to be inquisitive, exciting, and truly fun to read. It is rare to find a book so intricately written in which the reader is actually encouraged to participate. I loved the use of descriptive words; the plot was full of twists and turns, and the depth of the characters was amazingly accomplished. K.C. creates the perfect recipe of magic, adventure and imagination that are all easy to comprehend for older children on up to adult readers. I very much look forward to reading her next novel, Return to Finkleton. I can easily see K.C Hilton's series as either a television series or a film series comparable to Harry Potter, and I do not say that lightly. She is truly a genius in her mad writing skills, and this book portrays to all audiences who love a little magic in their life. This is by far, the best novel I have read all year, and if I could have given it ten stars, I would have. Look out world, here comes K.C. Hilton!

Dragonfaerie
Christopher A Cooke
Everyone has a little voice inside them that tells them to shirk responsibility, to create a scapegoat whenever something does not go to plan. Imagine if that voice was forced to learn empathy for the rest of creation. Will Englewood, a fifteen year old Iowa boy, saw his infant brother kidnapped by something that should not exist. After ten years of therapy and pills, he still feels pain and guilt. Only one thing will bring him out of his self-serving emotional exile: being taken from the world by the same creature that took his brother. Abducted to a world filled with exotic creatures, powerful magicians and treacherous landscapes, Will's only chance to escape to the world he knows lies in a mystical being known as the Dragonfaerie. Each new path leads him deeper into danger, and every person seems to have an agenda. With the help of Anlia, a mysterious girl with a troubled past, and McBride, a wise-cracking magician's apprentice, Will sets off to seek the creature that holds the only key to his return home. Along the way, he learns not merely that there are more pressing matters than his own misery, but that he must decide, finally, for what he is willing to live or die. Before his journey is over, Will is forced to decide whether to go home and live out his days as an average Midwestern teenager, or stay behind and help the world he is in -- before it tears itself apart.

While Zeke saves the stranger and sets out to answer these questions, he finds something much more interesting--a bridle in the dinosaur's mouth. From that moment on he knows he is destined to ride the T-Rex.
