The book Pukey Poetry: Tale Ticklers by Mz Millipede (written by Dorianne Allister Winkler) is a brightly illustrated and imaginative book. A millipede is the guide throughout the poems; she crawls along the pages with you. The poems are filled with not-so-scary monsters and fictional animals like a Skouse, Wafflerus, Pandacake, and Latrina Laffayet. This is a creatively written poetry book for young audiences.
Pukey Poetry is a very properly named book of silly poems. My sister, who is 7, giggled throughout many poems. My boy cousin, who is also 7, would like it as well. I liked that Mz Millipede could be found on every page, linking the poems together. Mrs. Winkler creatively wrote with fun new characters in an easy to read poetry book.
There were a few poems that might frighten very young kids. For example, one poem was about a monster under a bed. I think it could have been made funny by having the monster turn out to be a tiny creature. But most child will enjoy these poems. One particular poem I enjoyed was "Where's Ben?" because the little boy pretending with his parents was very realistic! When I start to babysit, I could take this book to help entertain imaginative boys and girls!
