Omniviolence by Jones Worthington is an adult techno thriller, science fiction novel that follows a pair of unlikely companions trying to survive. In this new cyberpunk world, violence is everywhere so much so that a teenager can even be a contract killer and being canceled means your execution.  Jackson Cross is a teen who lives in his mother's basement and kills people for money, but he does his killing via electronics and is paid virtually via crypto. His safe electronic kill business comes to a screeching halt when he finds himself being targeted for death and forced into a world where killing can happen anywhere. Joseph "Bones" Carboni is the total opposite of Jackson.  He’s a hitman who does his killing the traditional analogue way, yet to his personal detriment, he has a conscious that rears its head when he is ordered to kill a teenager. Does this unlikely pair of opposites have what it takes to survive the execution that is coming for them?

Opinion:

Omniviolence by Jones Worthington is a well-written thriller that yanked me in from the prologue and kept me turning page after page in quick succession. I love the way the author began the book with an intro into Jackson Cross’s first experience with being involved in a kill, and then time skipped to him being a successful killer. The author kept with this fast pace throughout the book, yet he never neglected the development of his characters. I particularly liked the dynamic that came to exist between Jackson and Joseph with how very different and yet also similar the two were. The suspense of how anyone could be someone gunning for them kept me guessing with how in this world a teen or even an elder could be a killer. The author did a spectacular job in building this cyberpunk world with how he blended world-building and plot together. I was able to greatly enjoy the plot while also becoming more and more immersed in the world the author was creating within the book. Overall, I found this book to be an amazing read that has me wanting to read more works by this author in the future!
