Shy, Carmen, Marcus, and Shoeshine have finally made their way back to civilization after surviving a tsunami on a cruise ship. However, what they find in California is just as bad. The largest eathquake on record has hit the West Coast and accelerated the spread of a new virus called the Romero Disease. They alone know the role that corporation LasoTech has in this epidemic. Holding the only cure for the disease, the ragtag group of survivors have to make their way to Arizona, to save thousands of lives.

Opinion:

This is a great book. Matt De La Peña's The Hunted is a page turner that I am not likely to forget. It has a fast paced plot line and characters that are intriguing and relatable, and I found it was hard not to get attached to them. The Hunted is the sequel to The Living in which Matt De La Peña introduced the characters and their relationships. The first book was great and the second was just as good. As the protagonists make their way through the remnants of the west coast, you can picture the destruction and begin to feel the tense mood of this book. Overall, I would definitely recommend this book, it's an easier read with plenty of suspense.

Explain your content rating:

Throughout the book the characters swear, a lot. They drop the f-bomb about ten to fifteen times. There are two or three pages with awkward moments between Shy and Carmen that amount to nothing more than a few uncomfortable paragraphs.
