‎The Fianna Chronicles: Awakening follows the story of Aisling and her teammates, known as The Fianna, on a dangerous mission. The Fianna, a group of four warriors, were chosen and entrusted with the responsibility of defending Morradun against the darkness that threatens humanity's existence. Aisling is to lead the fight alongside her teammates against the darkness. On this mission, they learn of Sable, the evil one, who seeks to possess ultimate power over all creation. Fighting against the agents and forces of darkness around and in their minds, will they succeed, or will Sable break them and possess the power to destroy all creation?

Opinion:

‎Aisling, the main character, is very relatable as are her teammates. Described as an ordinary village girl, she shows that anyone can become a hero. She was chosen for her heart, destined to bear the burden of salvation of Kingdom Morradun alongside her teammates. She leads her teammates with determination and courage, striving to draw out their strengths and help them overcome their weaknesses. Elara's guarded and sharp instincts help question diverse situations, keeping them out of trouble. She is a fierce character, excellent with a blade. Calla's magical powers help save others. Her compassion and empathy are worthy of emulation. Ronan, a trained warrior, bears the weight of battles on his shoulders, constantly seeking to handle dangerous situations effectively. Each of the Fianna's distinctive mix of strengths and weaknesses makes them relatable and inspiring.

‎ ‎I like James Hopper's unique writing style. He expertly wove the lives of four characters into a compelling narrative. The village setting within the kingdom was relatable, depicted by the meetings at the village square and the hearths in houses, amongst others. The plot had several twists and turns which kept me on edge.  Yet, I found the back-and-forth between visions and reality a bit offsetting, as it was confusing when not stated appropriately. Although the author often repeated sentences for emphasis, there was an unnecessary paragraph-length repetition, which occurred once.

‎ ‎I recommend this book to fiction lovers interested in reading a thrilling and compelling story full of adventure, suspense, magic, and purpose. Fianna's Chronicles: The Awakening will keep you turning the pages anticipating what occurs next.
