Esme's Wish is a mystical fantasy based on main character 15 year old Esme and her yearning wish to have her mother back. Her mother was somehow lost at sea years ago, and Esme is just not ready to move on. But unfortunately for Esme, her father is. He just married Esme's new stepmother, Penelope, and Esme isn't ready to accept her new life without her real mother. She can't get past the feeling that she's betraying her mother by starting on with this new life with Penelope and her father without her.
So Esme starts out on her mythical journey to Esperance to find her mother and to fufill her undying wish to find out just exactly what had happened to her.
I really like this book, It has a lot of detail and I love how enchanting it is! There is so much detail in the scenes and a lot of emotion in the story. You can almost feel Esme's pain from losing her mother. You can also feel anger toward her father when he marries a new woman! It's as if Esme's emotions have been passed to the reader.
I also liked this book because Esme is a very strong girl. She doesn't take no for an answer! She is also determined and needed to find the truth out about her mother once and for all, so that's exactly what she sent out to do.
