Dell is a donkey who is as stubborn as a mule! In bold defiance, Dell refuses the smallest of chores and would rather spend his time frolicking. But when he gets lost, he learns sometimes it is better to listen with an open mind. Then by chance, he comes upon a circus and discovers the joy of being part of a crew. When disaster strikes, he realizes he can use his conviction to save the circus. Will it be enough?

Opinion:

Donkey Dell, written and illustrated by Jaybie D., introduces an ornery protagonist who experiences the power of personal growth. In the beginning of the book, Dell’s unwillingness stems from his stubbornness. In the circus scene, his decision to act stems from determination. Dell demonstrates there is a difference between stubborn selfishness and standing firm to achieve a worthwhile goal. One critique. Beware: The circus scene sneaks up without warning. The bright and colorful illustrations are stunning and enhance the charm of the story. Together with its rhythmic verse, this book will appeal to animal lovers and those seeking personal development.
