Opinion: 

The Book of Fairies by Susie Spikol is an interesting combination of educational and imaginative material whirled into stunning illustrations of little sprites and their world. Not only does this book educate readers on fairies’ origins based on folklore and naturalist research, but the book also possesses vibrant illustrations that capture the eye and demand a closer look at the detailed world around us. The illustrations present a diverse world of humans and fairies alike as well as gorgeous landscapes that honor the importance of caring for the earth. The diversity creates a warm sense of belonging for readers of all ages and cultures. Throughout the book the author places little pieces of wisdom that each type of fairy offers through their powers, strengths, and passions. These nuggets of value create perfect mini lessons for readers to take with them after reading this book.
